Maxo Kream – “Grannies” Video
The Houston rapper Maxo Kream has been an underground hero for a few years now, and he released an impressive mixtape called The Persona Tape last year. But Maxo jumped up to a new level a few months ago when he released his single “Grannies,” a breathless slice-of-life track about the kind of desperation and family turmoil that you might experience if you grow up with poverty and crime as major parts of your life. It’s the sort of song that’s impressive at first and then deeper with every successive listen. And today, Maxo has a video for the track. Director Nasser Boulaich shows Maxo at home in Houston, surrounded by the sorts of characters who populate the song. Check it out below.
Maxo has a new project coming out sometime this year.
