We're only a few weeks away from the release of Everything Now, the new album from Arcade Fire. But that impending album release didn't stop AF member Will Butler, who released his solo debut Policy two years ago, from sharing a new song yesterday. "Anything You Want / 4 July 17" is just as political as the title implies; it's a big solo-piano anthem that gets deep into America's history of subjugation and slavery while getting into the headspace of some of our mythic historical figures and acknowledging Butler's own privilege. It also riffs a bit on Roy Orbison's 1989 single "You Got It." Butler recorded the song yesterday in London and posted it right away; check it out below, alongside what Butler had to say about it.
