Tupac Photog Sues Kendall & Kylie Over T-Shirts, Jenners Say They Only Sold Two
Kendall and Kylie Jenner are still in hot water for their short-lived t-shirt line that used images of Tupac, Biggie, and more without permission and superimposed their faces on top of the iconic artist’s likenesses. They’ve apologized and been ridiculed by Arcade Fire and dragged by Notorious B.I.G.’s mother, but that’s not enough.
They’re also being sued by Los Angeles-based photographer Michael Miller, who took the photos of Tupac that ended up on the Jenner’s shirts. The lawsuit states that the sisters “have misappropriated and wrongfully exploited at least two original photographs of late hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur, slapping the iconic photographs on garments and overlaying them with dubious imagery and text.”
Responding to the lawsuit today, the Kendall + Kylie fashion brand released a statement (via Associated Press) saying that the images were obtained from a company that had a valid license to sell them, and that the claims in Miller’s lawsuit “are completely false and the lawsuit is baseless.” They also mention that they only sold two t-shirts from the line before pulling the items from stores. Apparently two too many!
