Kanye West & Kid Cudi’s Japan Trip Is Reportedly For A Surprise Recording Project
Earlier this year, we were seeing reports that Kanye West, recovering from public breakdowns and hospitalization, was working on music in a remote Wyoming cabin. And today, we’re seeing more reports that West is working on new music, but now those reports are different. West and Kid Cudi have been spotted in Japan over the last several weeks, and they’re reportedly working on a collaborative project that will arrive as a surprise when it’s ready.
Page Six reports that West and his old collaborator have been holed up in a studio when they’re not hanging out with Takashi Murakami.
Page Six’s source claims that “they’re going to drop some crazy collaboration out of the blue… They’re going to drop some surprise project on everybody. They’re recording it now.” Apparently this will be a relatively stripped-down affair, just two guys working together: “Nobody knows what it is — or what it sounds like… There are no professionals in the room. It’s just Cudi, Kanye and an engineer.”
West and Cudi have had a tempestuous relationship, with the two of them dissing each other at various points. Both of them have been hospitalized in recent months. But they’ve made great music together in the past, and it would be amazing to see them doing it again.
