The War On Drugs – “Pain” Video
Later this week, the War On Drugs will release their excellent new album A Deeper Understanding. And this morning, the band has followed the moving “Holding On” video with an absolutely gorgeous one for the recent single “Pain.” For this one, director Emmett Malloy shot the band on lush 16mm black-and-white film as they played on a boat traveling down the Schuylkill River in their Philadelphia hometown. Malloy also filled the video with beautifully-photographed slice-of-life scenes from around Philly; the kids popping wheelies on bikes are my favorite. This thing demands to be projected on a movie screen, but you can watch it on your computer or phone or whatever below.
A Deeper Understanding is out 8/25 on Atlantic.
