Stream Charlotte Gainsbourg Rest
Later this week, Charlotte Gainsbourg, the great French actress and singer, will finally release Rest, her first album in seven years. Rest follows up Gainsbourg’s 2011 double album Stage Whisper, and she recorded Rest with the dance producer SebastiAn. It’s a slick and pulsating but also lush and contemplative dance-pop album, and Gainsbourg sings much of it in French. The LP features some big-name contributors — Paul McCartney, Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de-Homem-Christo, Owen Pallet, Connan Mockasin — and we’ve posted the early tracks “Rest,” “Deadly Valentine,” and “Ring-A-Ring O’ Roses.” Right now, the whole LP is streaming at NPR, and you can hear it here.
Rest is out 11/17 on Because Music.
