Florence + The Machine – “Hunger”
Florence Welch announced a new Florence + The Machine album today. It’s called High As Hope and it’ll be out 6/29. The LP follows How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which came out three years ago. Along with the announcement, Florence + The Machine released the album’s lead single and its striking music video.
The AG Rojas-directed video for “Hunger” matches the song’s soaring drama. “This song is about the ways we look for love in things that are perhaps not love, and how attempts to feel less alone can sometimes isolate us more,” Welch says of the single. “I guess I made myself more vulnerable in this song to encourage connection, because perhaps a lot more of us feel this way than we are able to admit. Sometimes when you can’t say it, you can sing it.”
Welch wrote and co-produced the forthcoming album, which will feature Kamasi Washington, Jamie xx, Sampha, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Kelsey Lu. Watch and listen to “Hunger” below.
