Watch Chloe x Halle Perform At The MTV Movie & TV Awards
We may not be getting regular Beyoncé performances at awards shows anymore, but at least we get to see her proteges. Chloe X Halle are two young sisters from Atlanta who Beyoncé signed to her Parkwood imprint. They released their full-length debut The Kids Are Alright earlier this year. And last night, they were performers at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. (It used to be just Movie Awards. Now It’s Movie & TV.)
In another era, we might’ve called this a starmaking performance. It was certainly a stirring one. Chloe X Halle started out their performance back-to-back on a rotating platform, singing their song “Warrior.” They were on a stage full of taiko drummers, and they sang beautifully, and their choreography was lovely and mesmerizing. Later on, they moved to a more standard stage and sang “The Kids Are Alright” with a band and dancers behind them. That was fine, but the “Warrior” performance was the one you’ll remember. Meanwhile, Nick Jonas, once a member of the Jonas Brothers and now a quasi-R&B singer, performed his song “Anywhere,” while producer Mustard (formerly DJ Mustard) did hypeman duties. Here’s that:
