Infant Island Announce Rarities Album To Benefit Richmond Community Bail Fund
The Fredericksburg, Virginia screamo monsters Infant Island have been absolutely on fire lately. In the past two months, they’ve released two convulsive and brilliant records, the EP Sepulcher and the album Beneath. Also, singer/guitarist Alexander Rudenshiold has unveiled another new band called Mattachine and shared their own ferocious first song “Sisyphus.” Somehow, though, Infant Island are not yet done. They’ve got some extra material in the bank, and they’re releasing it for a just cause.
In Virginia, as in the rest of America, the past week has seen widespread protests and serious police violence in response. In both Fredericksburg and nearby Richmond, police have put in shows of force, firing tear gas canisters and making mass arrests. Today, Infant Island announced that they’re about to release a new compilation called Collections 1. It’ll feature demos, alternate versions, rarities, and remixes, and it’s coming out this week. On their Bandcamp page, Infant Island pledge that “digital and excess PWYW proceeds from Collections 1 for the time being will be donated to the Richmond Community Bail Fund.”
Below, listen to an alternate take on “Small Differences,” the opening track from Infant Island’s self-titled 2018 debut album.
Collections 1 is out 6/5, and you can pre-order it at Bandcamp.
