The St. Louis hardcore band Squint released their first two EPs, Feel It and Wash Away, in 2022, and both of them kick absolute fucking ass. Last year, they dropped the one-off single “All” and made our list of favorite new bands. Today, Squint drop another one-off track on us, and it’s another banger.

Like a lot of hardcore bands over the past few years, Squint have a bouncy, catchy, melodic style that’s informed by ’90s alt-rock. Unlike many of those bands, Squint remain comfortably in the hardcore realm. You can hear that on the new joint “Magic,” recorded with veteran producer Jon Markson. The song is less than two minutes long, and it moves with a pummeling grace, bringing a fun-loving and fuzzed-out sensibility to its attack. Check it out below.
