Mk.gee – “Rockman”

Mk.gee – “Rockman”

New-age guitar hero Mk.gee has been on quite a run this year, going from near-obscurity to something resembling actual stardom. Mk.gee’s debut album Two Star & The Dream Police came out in February. Since then, he’s worked with Justin Bieber and pulled off attention-grabbing live-show stunts. A couple of months ago, Mk.gee released a single called “Lonely Fight.” Today, he’s got another one called “Rockman.”

“Rockman” is presumably named after the headphone amplifier that Boston’s Tom Scholz invented, and Mk.gee previewed the song at a New Haven show last month. It’s a blurry, trancelike track. Imagine if Sting and Don Henley recorded a duet in 1987, and then imagine that you heard that song reflected through a psychedelic prism. That’s how “Rockman” sounds. There’s also a pretty funny eagle-screech sound effect in there. Listen below.
