FERG – “Thought I Was Dead”
This year, the rapper formerly known as A$AP Ferg — he’s just FERG now — returned from a period of relative dormancy, appearing on tracks from Denzel Curry and NBA star Jaylen Brown. In a few weeks, FERG will release Darold, his first new project in four years. He’s already shared the Future/Mike WiLL Made-It collab “Allure,” and now he’s got an energetic new single called “Thought I Was Dead.”
“Thought I Was Dead” is a fired-up, horn-laced banger that effectively points out that FERG is not dead. The beat has a small army of credited producers, including Mike WiLL Made-It and Lex Luger, and FERG goes into purposeful fast-rap mode for this one. FERG co-directed the track’s video with Sage English, and it’s a fun, stylish visual attack that brings back that old A$AP Mob feeling. FERG rocks an all-white out fit with angel wings, shows off his Brat-green dye job, and careens around on dirtbikes like the Ruff Ryders era never ended. Check it out below.
Darold is out 11/8 on RCA.
