It's hard to say if this is the new M.I.A. single -- once bitten, twice shy -- but I will say it's a song that has M.I.A. on it. "Steppin Up" doesn't appear on the ///Y/ tracklist, but who trusts tracklists these days? It premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC radio show earlier today. Take a listen.
///Y/ is out 7/13. Diplo made it sound interesting this afternoon via a Tweet that said besides his three tracks the album was "like skinny puppy ? & gives me nightmares?." The offending Tweet has been removed. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but maybe the fake songs and deleted information have something to do with M.I.A.'s anti-Internet stance. Impermanence and unreliability, or whatever. Clever.
