The Smashing Pumpkins Do “Today” And “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” @ 9:30 Club, Washington. D.C.

After all the fuss over Zeitgeist and all the myriad ways in which Billy painted a giant bullseye on his showercurtain-vinyl-cape-thing, last night he reminded a room full of D.C.-area denizens why they still have love for the Pumpkins. Or at least, the moniker. At the 9:30 Club, Billy, Jimmy, John Cusack, and the bassist played their CD release party for those lucky enough to score tix, giving the kids a chance to sing about the beauty of that day and rats in cages in about as small a place as they'll ever get to.

Watch it at YouTube. And if seeing vague blobs that resemble Bill and Jim aren't doing it for you, take the jump for the Pumpkins doing "Tarantula" on Letterman Monday night. You can make out everystripe on Corgan's Where's Waldo long-sleeve tee.
