In speaking with P4K about the forthcoming European tax-haven named Andorra, Dan Snaith said it's "not going to really really surprise people that've heard my last two records," and fair enough, for all its eccentric, kaleidoscopic charms, "Melody Day" is familiar terrain. But the video charts more a more arid path, pitting trippy pioneers on a stony desert mountain. The band jams, the mountain is climbed, the drummer's faceless, etc. The acidic expedition has one more burst three minutes in, and the swirling romp ends where it begins -- with a hammer to a pin.

Caribou's latest Andorra due 08/21/07 on Merge, and you can stream the record right now at mergerecords.com. Anybody else hear a little Tears For Fears ("Head Over Heels") in the verse to the awesome "Sandy"?
As for the name change, we'll live, but damn if Dick didn't fuck up our CD shelf. (Snaith to Time Out New York 4/05: "It would've cost me half a million dollars to fight [Dictators frontman Handsome Dick Manitoba] ... I literally picked it off of a map. It's the name of a Canadian province. This is like someone named Bob Smith suing the Smiths.")
