Screaming Females – “Poison Arrow” Video (Stereogum Premiere)
Earlier this month, the great Jersey punk trio Screaming Females released Chalk Tape, a cassette-only EP that follows the insanely great 2012 album Ugly. “Poison Arrow,” a jittery burner from the tape, now has a video from director Kate Sweeney, and it tells the story of a crossdressing trio of amateur artists willing to go to nefarious lengths to keep anyone else from winning their Scremales-themed art fair. From the ridiculous concept to the inexplicably gendered stars to the ’70s-style film grain, it’s all just a very strange homemade delight. Also, now that leader Marissa Paternoster has recovered from mono, the band’s finally announced a few shows, their first since October. We’ve got the video, a download of “Poison Arrow,” and those tour dates below.
