About 14 years ago, on opposite sides of the Atlantic, both Neneh Cherry and the Jungle Broters were doing way-out art-student things with rap music. And now Cherry and Afrika Baby Bam, one half of the Jungle Brothers, have fused their two aesthetics together, making a drifting, starry-eyed spoken-word duet called “Nina,” one that could’ve easily come out all those years ago, except for one thing. This one has a rattling, undulating beat from Four Tet, who previously turned in a great remix of Cherry and the Thing’s cover of Suicide’s “Dream Baby Dream.” Listen to “Nina” below.

Cherry and Four Tet apparently have a longer collaboration in the works, and I am excited.
