The last time we heard from the prolific avant-pop songwriter Ryan Power was about a year ago, surrounding the release of his fifth LP, I Don’t Want To Die for NNA Tapes — an excellent and overlooked glimpse into his expansive discography. Power lives in Burlington, VT, and his voice is another essential from the region’s community of artists like Blanche Blanche Blanche, Happy Jawbone Family Band, and Chris Weisman, all of whom are currently doing some of most interesting things to bridge the gap between “pop” and “experimental.” Now, we are pleased to report that NNA will follow up with another LP for Power, Identity Picks, due out June 25. It’s Power’s strongest collection of songs yet; and he recorded, engineered, mixed and performed the entire album himself.
