Watch Q-Tip Play A Previously Unreleased Clip Of Kanye’s Billy Joel-Sampling “Mama’s Boyfriend”
Red Bull Music Academy has finished their month-long residency in New York City, but we’re still getting goodies from some of the events. Today, they’ve released a video of a conversation between Q-Tip and legendary hip-hop journalist and ego trip co-founder Chairman Mao. In the discussion, Q-Tip spoke about his career, did an impression of KRS-One, and played a bit of “Mama’s Boyfriend,” an unreleased Kanye West track that we’ve only heard via an acapella performance West did at Facebook HQ. If you fast forward to the 1:36 mark in the video, you can hear a clip of the song, which features a sample of Billy Joel’s “Movin’ Out.” Check it out below.
Kanye West’s Yeezus is out 6/18 via Def Jam.
