Titus Andronicus are packing in the curiosities this week. Frontman Patrick Stickles is now selling his services as a singing telegram — although, only in NYC, Long Island, NJ; whatever Westchester did to you, Stickles, we’re sorry — and the band has now released a of Icona Pop’s ever-present breakout single “I Love It.” Under the name “I Don’t Care,” it’s an eight-minute rendition that the band recorded at Brooklyn’s Shea Stadium with a grip of new lyrics, including “Fighting with the cops/I love it/burning down the church/I love it/breaking all the rules/I love it/smoking at the school/I love it.” So, this is perhaps a preview of what those fifty clams’ll deliver when you order Stickles to come sing for you. Scott asked the Stereogum staff if we’d prefer to have him come perform your song of the summer “Get Lucky” or Kanye West’s “Black Skinhead.” I suggested a controversial mashup of “Blurred Lines” and “Tunnel Vision” and this Icona Pop cover proves that he’s beyond capable of truly turning pop on its head. Check it out below.
