White Fence – “Today’s Lesson” (Filth Cover)
This past winter, Ghoulie, a dachshund belonging to poster artist William Keihn, broke his back, and the surgery he needed set Keihn back a whole bunch of money. So Burger Records has released the cassette benefit compilation The Wiener Dog Comp II: The Ghoulie Tape, and proceeds are going to help pay down Keihn’s debut. A fuckload of garage-punk bands have contributed songs to the cause: Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Sic Alps, Apache Dropout, lots of others. And Bay Area psych weirdo White Fence has turned in a jangly, flowery cover of “Today’s Lesson,” a 1991 banger from the crustcore band Filth. The White Fence version does not sound anything like the Filth one, and you can hear it below.
The Wiener Dog Comp II: The Ghoulie Tape is out now on Burger.
