Dr. Dog is the latest indie band to release a Christmas album; their new four-track Oh My Christmas Tree EP doesn’t vary much from their other albums, except for its holiday theme and occasional jingle-bell usage. Opener “Christmas Party” — about all the various attendees including “eggnog enhancers, tinsel-tossing cookie-cutting ribbon-tying types” — could be an additional track on October’s B-Room, complete with background “ah-ahs.” All the songs have a certain corniness about them, as is required of most Christmas songs, especially “I Believe In Santa Claus,” calling for revival of Santa believers everywhere.
