Google Play Offering Yeezus As Free Download
Stereogum’s favorite album is 2013 was Kanye West’s apocalyptic noise-rap attack Yeezus, and if you’ve spent enough time reading the site, you’ve probably noticed that we won’t shut up about the thing. If our enthusiasm hasn’t been enough to convince you to check it out, though, consider this: At least for now, Google Play, Google’s online music store, is now offering Yeezus as a no-frills free download. In fact, as part of a year-end promotion, Google Play is also offering a ton of other good music for free. Chvrches’ debut The Bones Of What You Believe, another of our favorites from the year, is a free download, too, and a bunch of great songs — Arcade Fire’s “Reflektor,” Drake’s “Started From The Bottom,” Disclosure’s “When A Fire Starts To Burn,” M.I.A.’s “Y.A.L.A.” — are also free downloads over there. Meanwhile, some other critical faves are also on sale at a deep, deep discount. Danny Brown’s Old, for instance, is yours for $3.99. If you’ve been spending full price for music all year, then, this will offer some good reasons to get annoyed at yourself. Go shopping here.
