Beat Culture is really Sunik Kim, a Yale student who has been making sparkling laptop compositions for sometime now. “Shibuya” begins with a fragile formlessness that gradually builds in every way. Static, distortion, melodies, and a pounding 4/4 beat all grow stronger over the course of the track until Kim pulls the plug and reverts to an ambient coda. Listen below.
