Todd Rundgren, Lindstrøm, & Serena-Maneesh Frontman Team Up For Album
Todd Rundgren is the Pennsylvania-born studio-rock wizard who helped define how American big-money rock music sounded in the 1970s. Hans-Peter Lindstrøm is the Norwegian space-disco producer whose burbling deep-groove tracks helped open dance music up to lusher and more psychedelic sounds in the mid-’00s. Emil Nikolaisen is the frontman of the Oslo shoegaze band Serena-Maneesh, who persistently pull of the neat trick of making feedbacky skree sound glamorous. You would not necessarily expect to find these three in a recording studio together, but it’s happening. Two years after Rundgren remixed Lindstrøm’s “Quiet Place To Live,” Pitchfork reports that he’s teamed up with Lindstrøm and Nikolaisen for a new album, recorded in both Oslo and Hawaii. The album is called Runddans, and it’s coming this summer on Smalltown Supersound. I can’t wait to hear how it sounds.
