Skrillex – “Ragga Bomb” (Feat. Ragga Twins) Video
A couple of weeks ago, divisive dance producer Skrillex leaped boldly into the album-oriented music waters, releasing Recess, his first-ever full-length LP, with very little advance notice. The album didn’t exactly sell too well in its first week, but, um, I still like him. First single “Ragga Bomb” is an old-school rave cluserfuck with vocals from the Ragga Twins, omnipresent reggae-style toasters during the early years of British rave music. And now it’s got a music video, filmed in South Africa, in which everything is made to look apocalyptic and there’s a whole lot of dancing. You could probably write a term paper on the problematic racial representations at work here, but the whole thing is visually arresting as all hell, and your brain basically turns off by the time it turns into a lightsaber battle anyway. Terence Neale directs; watch it below.
Recess is out now on OWSLA.
