Coldplay – “Midnight (Giorgio Moroder Remix)”
In what might be Coldplay’s biggest music-nerd move since they brought Brian Eno in to co-produce Viva La Vida — if not since they interpolated Kraftwerk’s “Computer Love” on their X&Y track “Talk” — the band has brought the Italo-disco grandmaster Giorgio Moroder in to remix “Midnight,” the Bon Iver-esque first single from the forthcoming album Ghost Stories. The Moroder remix runs nearly nine minutes, and while it might not have the same spacey majesty as peak Moroder, it still does a nice job translating the inward sweep of the original track into an orchestral disco pulse. Actually, when it really gets going, it sounds a bit like Cut Copy. Listen to the remix below.
The remix is out now at iTunes, and Ghost Stories is out 5/19 on Parlophone.
