Today, Coldplay release their sharp, crystalline new album Ghost Stories, and at least from where I’m sitting, it’s their best album since Viva La Vida, if not A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Of course, Coldplay are a big-money rock band, and as a big-money rock band, they have to do things like use album leftovers as bonus tracks so that Target can theoretically move a few extra units. The Target edition of Ghost Stories has three bonus tracks: “Ghost Story,” “All Your Friends,” and “O (Part 2 – Reprise).” This being the release date, all three of those songs have made their way to the internet. And if all of them aren’t quite as good as the tracks that made it to the album, they’re all worth hearing — and one, “Ghost Story,” really probably should’ve been on the LP proper.
