His problem is his conception of covers replacing the original work. Like that “going to a museum and painting a mustache on a painting” — it’s like printing out a picture of a painting and drawing a mustache on that. The dude only sees the negatives of it and not the positive effect it could have in prolonging the life of his music. He really just wants it to be in a museum.

Trying to imagine a future in which I’m rich and old, younger people are interested in something I made and I get angry about it.

How many middle-adged dudes have made statements that include the words “…and that’s the problem with the younger generation…” while listening to The Eagles? They’re like the official band of “get off my lawn” fist-shakers everywhere.

Then why don’t the vast majority of them express it that way? Because truthfully, they don’t. Modern feminism is one of the most backbiting, twisted, confused and incestual of all social movements. It has not idea what it really is or what it really wants, but it sure as hell wants everybody to listen and do as they’re told. LDR’s statement is simplistic brilliance that more people would do well to adopt.

Anyway, me getting #2 this week reminds me of when my media writing professor a couple semesters ago asked the class if we’ve already been published somewhere. I hadn’t yet then, but I told him “Well, sometimes I write smart or funny comments on this music site and they pick the highest-voted ones at the end of the week and do a little page about it.” I showed him one and he was like “Yeah, this counts!”
