Young Thug, A$AP Ferg & Freddie Gibbs – “Old English”
Rap’s underground is in a fascinating place right now; all these weird-as-fuck voices from vastly different backgrounds, in the right situation, can come together and make really good music together. On the new posse cut “Old English,” for instance, leftfield Atlanta yelper Young Thug links up with A$AP Mob growler A$AP Ferg and the low-key Indiana G-rap virtuoso Freddie Gibbs. None of these guys sound anything like each other, and yet they sound just fearsome when you take them all and put them on the same track. “Old English,” which has a hard and bleepy beat from producers Salva and Nick Hook, is the first single from a forthcoming Mass Appeal compilation that’s, logically enough, titled Mass Appeal Compilation Vol. 1. Listen to it below.
Mass Appeal Compilation Vol. 1 is out 9/2, and it’s set to feature people like Pusha T, Juicy J, YG, and Mac Miller.
