Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – “Fault Lines”
Nobody would be mad at Tom Petty if he just rode off into the sunset, playing his greatest hits forever, but he’s still cranking out new jams, and some of them are pretty great. Petty and his Heartbreakers will release their new album Hypnotic Eye later this month, and we’ve already heard three of its songs: “American Dream Plan B,” “U Get Me High,” and “Red River.” “Fault Lines,” the fourth song that they’ve shared, might be the best of the bunch. It’s got a pounding, sinuous rhythm and a chorus so casually catchy that only someone of Petty’s pedigree could’ve come up with it. Give it a listen below.
Hypnotic Eye is out 7/29 on Reprise.
