Portland’s Shy Girls, aka Dan Vidmar, is best known for his wispy and minimalist bedroom R&B that he showed off on last year’s debut Timeshare EP. His new song — a collaboration with Jagwar Ma’s Jono Ma that was put together for Red Bull Sound Select — is his most aggressive yet, featuring a pulsating ’80s dance rhythm that sees Vidmar channeling his inner Michael Jackson. “I’m not afraid of love/ A little affection never hurt no one/ but I know enough to know this ain’t the one,” is how he starts the song off and he never lets up on the realistically cruel view of lust. “If I would make out with you, I’d never want to see it through/ I would never fall for you.” Listen below.
