This year’s CMJ Music Marathon is once again coming to venues around New York City 10/21-25, which means countless music nerds around NYC will, once again, be getting nowhere near enough sleep. (Thankfully, it won’t overlap with the Village Halloween Parade this year, which means you won’t have to cuss softly to yourself when a bunch of drunk assholes in costumes make it harder to sprint from one venue to another.) The people behind CMJ have just announced the initial lineup for this year’s extravaganza, and we can all start making bets on who will come out of it with the most hype. My money is on Courtney Barnett, but she might already have too much acclaim to her name. She’ll play CMJ, as will the reunited Slowdive, the Kills, Bombay Bicycle Club, Matthew Dear, Joey Bada$$’s Pro Era crew, former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, Moon Duo, Ballet School, Protomartyr, Twin Peaks, Potty Mouth, White Fence, the Wytches, Kate Boy, Juan Wauters, Celebration, Greys, Luluc, Mt.
