Windhand were responsible for two of 2013’s best metal releases: their split with fellow Richmond sludge/doom band Cough, as well as their own sophomore LP, Soma. Earlier this year, frontwoman Dorthia Cottrell guested on the awesome new Bastard Sapling record, Instinct Is Forever, but soon, her band make a truncated return. Windhand are set to release a super-limited Halloween-themed split 10″ with Sweden’s Salem’s Pot, and Windhand’s half of that record, “Forest Clouds,” is available to spin now, in advance of the release. The thing absolutely crushes, and Cottrell sounds especially powerful here. You absolutely must listen.
