Triathalon – “Brain Dead” (Stereogum Premiere)
Savannah-based four-piece Triathalon (misspelling intentional, I presume) are gearing up to release their debut album, Lo-Tide, next month. They describe themselves as “Motown surf sounds with a twist of experimental sketchiness,” which is pretty damn accurate. “Brain Dead” swells and heaves, with sunburnt and wallowing guitars. “She’s all in my head,” the lead singer sighs out, sardonic and knowing. It’s catchy yet understated surf pop that’s charming in its directness. Listen below.
Lo-Tide is out 10/21 via Broken Circles.
