Watch Bruce Springsteen Joke About His Unconventional New Children’s Book On The Daily Show
Bruce Springsteen was on The Daily Show last night to promote his new book, Outlaw Pete, which is based off of the song of the same name that opens his 2009 album Working On A Dream. Springsteen and illustrator Frank Caruso talk about how they got together to create their Western-inspired book, which follows the titular character who is a baby criminal in diapers that “confronts the roughest edges of adulthood.” Springsteen insists during the interview that it’s a children’s book: “We figured if they could take the death of Mustafa [sic — probably meant Mufasa from The Lion King], they’d be able to handle what’s in this book,” though Stewart shows off one of the pages where a character in the book takes a knife to the chest, so parent discretion is advised. Watch the interview below.
Outlaw Pete is out now. Springsteen will play the Concert For Valor tonight in Washington, DC alongside Rhianna, Eminem, and Metallica. It will be broadcasted on HBO.
