Diplo Made A Song With Madonna, Nicki Minaj, & Sophie
Last week, I was talking with my friends and bet that we’d see the PC Music aesthetic start to drip over into Top 40 music by the end of next year. Looks like it may happen even earlier than that. In a new interview with inthemix, Diplo revealed that he worked on a track for Madonna’s new album with Sophie and Nicki Minaj. “I mean, if I can make a good record with Madonna, Nicki Minaj, and Sophie, that’s all I wanna do. All I want to do is things that haven’t been done before. I want to leave behind those weird things.” Diplo’s usually a pretty good purveyor of what styles will end up crossing over into the mainstream, and I feel like it’s only a matter of time before pop music cannibalizes the genre (and I’m really excited to hear the results). He also added that he and Sophie “did a bunch of stuff together” and gave a list of collaborators that should be expected on the next Major Lazer record: Gwen Stefani, Pusha T, Travis $cott, Ellie Goulding, 2 Chainz, and MØ. He says that the Major Lazer album should be expected next spring. Sounds exciting!
