Elephant Micah – “Slow Time Vultures”
In October we premiered Elephant Micah’s heartfelt folk tune “By The Canal” — a first taste of his upcoming twelfth studio album, Where In Our Woods . Today we get “Slow Time Vultures,” another song from the upcoming release that takes a more stripped-down approach to the folk genre. Like the song’s title suggests, the languid pace of the very minimal instrumentation coupled with lyrics about being stagnant in life create an emotional lethargy in the track. “We can’t afford to go forward,” Elephant Micah sings over the steady twang of his acoustic guitar before taking a breath and sighing, “anymore.” The poignant lyricism and proximity of Elephant Micah’s melancholy vocals create a soundscape that demands attention to every word until only the sound of his acoustic guitar and a buzzing organ somewhere in the background slowly carry the song to its end. Listen.
Where In Our Woods is out 1/20 on Western Vinyl.
