Lil Wayne Reportedly Suing Birdman For $8M
Lil Wayne shocked the rap world in December by calling himself a “prisoner” on longtime label home Cash Money and saying he wants nothing to do with longtime father figure Bryan “Birdman” Williams, the Cash Money co-founder who continues to delay the release of Wayne’s album The Carter V. Wayne took more shots at Cash Money on his new Sorry 4 The Wait 2 mixtape, declaring, “Cash Money is an army, I’m a one-man army/ And if them niggas comin’ for me, I’m goin’ out like Tony.” Now TMZ is reporting that Wayne and Birdman tried to work out an agreement this week, but talks between them have broken down. Wayne reportedly plans to ask a judge to release him from his contract with Cash Money and to sue Birdman for $8 million, the amount Wayne says Birdman owes him as an advance for The Carter V. As for Birdman, he reportedly said he will release the album “in due time.” The report indicates that Wayne will continue to record music but will release it outside the Cash Money umbrella; so much for The Carter V being his last album.
