Mark Kozelek Is Halfway Through His Benji Follow-Up, Hopefully Out By Fall
In a new interview with The Omaha World-Herald, Mark Kozelek says that he’s well underway with his Benji followup. “Luckily, I’m working on a new album now and hopefully that could be out by fall,” he said. “I respond to what’s happening around me. [Sonic Youth drummer] Steve Shelley was telling me the other night, ‘This next one needs to be really good,’ and my hope is that it will be. But it’s going to be what it’s going to be. Different things are happening in my life now, so there is no doubt that it will be a very different album.” As long as there are no more songs about the War On Drugs, we’re looking forward to it. He adds at the interview that he’s about “halfway” through the new album, and that “there’s some good stuff going on.”
