Swervedriver – “Autodidact”
Mythic alt-rock heroes Swervedriver are having a moment, in part because they’re releasing their first album in seventeen years, I Wasn’t Born To Lose You, in March, but their revival also owes itself to the fact that there are a ton of new young bands that should name-check them as an influence, who worship their particular brand of layered gloom. The ’90s bred a particular wall-of-sound aesthetic that’s become increasingly popular amongst players of the contemporary American underground, which makes Swervedriver’s steadfast sound seem all the more relevant. The first single off of I Wasn’t Born To Lose You, “Setting Sun,” came out at the beginning of the year, and now the band’s offering up “Autodidact.” Listen to it below.
I Wasn’t Born To Lose You is out 3/3 on Cobraside.
