Walt And Jesse Might Make Appearances In Better Call Saul
Oh, brother. In a lengthy profile of Vince Gilligan in the most recent issue of the Hollywood Reporter, Gilligan talks a lot about what it’s like to start fresh after finishing a series like Breaking Bad, and a bit about what his involvement will be in the upcoming spinoff Better Call Saul. Breaking Bad writer Peter Gould will run the show, but Gilligan will be in the writers’ room for the first season, and he’ll direct the first episode. Also Walt and Jesse might returrrnoooooo:
There’s obviously a danger inherent in doing a spinoff, but I just love the character of Saul Goodman [Bob Odenkirk] so much, and part of me doesn’t want to say no to this world. [Peter Gould and I are] both one-hour drama guys, so we figured, ‘Why not shoot Saul in the same way?’ Let’s shoot it in Albuquerque, let’s get as much of the crew back together as possible, and let’s do it the way we did it before so that it will be of a piece with that pre-existing fictional universe that we had so much fun creating. …
Both Cranston and Aaron Paul, in addition to some of Bad’s other actors, have expressed interest in making appearances, which Gilligan intends to make happen. “Personally, I’d have a hard time resisting putting all these guys in for a cameo or two every now and then,” he says, smiling at the very thought.
:-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ That’s my face again! It is obvious that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul love Breaking Bad as much as any fan, and there is almost no way that Aaron Paul specifically did not immediately express interest in making a cameo in Better Call Saul the moment it was announced, but, ah, maybe don’t let them? They’ve taken their bow, and it was an incredible bow! Certainly one of the most incredible television bows. Don’t bring them back out onstage for another, quieter, weird, lesser bow! Not that I am telling you what to do, Vince Gilligan! I’m sure you probably know what you’re doing, and I have faith in your ability to do this right, but also this is what my face looks like: :-/ And do you even know what the latest Pixies album sounded like? And I love the Dismemberment Plan but– well, let’s not get into it, just: ARE YOU SURE? (Via /Film.)
