Monsters’ Ball: The Week’s Top Comments
On Today this morning, I heard Al Roker say that it was going to be a beautiful weekend in most parts of the country. Most parts! Can you even believe it?!? So, as far as my math goes, it seems like you have a pretty good chance of having a BEAUTIFUL weekend this weekend, if you live in the United States of America! Elsewhere, I’m not sure. You’ll have to check with your own Al Rokers. So please enjoy it. As we know, it won’t be long before we’re all huddled in our beds, wearing all of our coats, to wait out the winter. Stretch your legs good before then. (Also see the One Direction movie.) (If you want to.) (BYEEEE)

Did anybody else think Hank was going to hug Jesse in the car? Because I sure did! And then when Marie offered him coffee all I could think was that I want Hank and Marie to adopt Jesse and they all live happily ever after.
Also I had to work yesterday and had nothing to do all day so I drew cartoons of these two things.

I watched it and laughed until I finally started crying during Andy Samberg’s bit, but I thought they all had pretty hilarious moments and it’s COMEDY, all comedians make light of racism and homosexuality, it’s their job. Fuck, was it Jeff Ross that made a joke about AIDS and I even laughed at that so, you know, as long as I’m laughing, and laughing until my whole upper body hurts, I consider that a damn entertaining hour and a half. Natasha Leggero was particularly scathing, and hilarious, and only offensive to closed minded fucktards – so maybe the subject matter was something we’d all heard at a roast before, but it was still hilarious and that’s kind of the fucking point. And if anyone didn’t laugh at least a LITTLE then I feel sorry for that person and by that person I mean Kelly who I can’t believe is still writing for Stereogum. Where’s Gabe? I really miss Gabe when I read this Gabe-wannabe shit. Ugh.

And so they stood there, in a long embrace, each cognizant that they were one hug closer to the chaotic void of oblivion.

I live next door to two very precocious and lovely kids. The 8-year-old is especially hilarious as she has no filter and loves to help me garden. Over the summer, she has told me the following things: I looked really burnt out; the Sandy River is gross because when it’s hot out, smokers go there and cigarette butts in the water are super gross; someday she wants to have a dog like my dog — but one that doesn’t vomit up as much stuff after eating grass; finishing a beer makes grown ups “honest”; plums and berries taste better just before they are ripe because sometimes fruit tastes better when it is not sweet; she can’t get into some videogame that her brother likes because it’s just boring; I should really consider growing radishes and the people on the other side of the block who play with fireworks all summer long are inconsiderate assholes.
She pulled a prank on me a couple weeks ago in which she told me that my tomatillos were ripe and I should try one. Well, they were NOT ripe and I spit it out in the way you would by eating totally unripened green tomato thingys and she started cackling in the way that 8-year-olds pulling kid pranks do. She got me — not with an act of malice, but with an act of whimsy. I hope she gets together with Maya Angelou for more pranks. |
