Casting The Reality Bites NBC Show
WHAT?! THERE IS GOING TO BE A SINGLE-CAMERA COMEDY TELEVISION SHOW VERSION OF REALITY BITES ON NBC? FROM BEN STILLER AND HELEN CHILDRESS?!?!? From Deadline:
Reality Bites, the cult 1994 romantic comedy that examined the angst of Generation X college graduates, is heading to primetime. The film’s director Ben Stiller and writer Helen Childress have teamed for a TV series version of the movie that starred Winona Ryder, Stiller and Ethan Hawke. Childress will write the single-camera comedy project, which is set up at NBC. It centers on recent college graduate Lelaina Pierce, the character played in the movie by Ryder, as she struggles to make her way — romantically and professionally — in the recession-plagued, pre-Internet early 1990s. Set in Houston, the show, and Lelaina herself with her video camera, chronicles the lives of her “slacker” friends with whom she shares an apartment.
Whaaaaaaaaaat! Why are all of these big announcements (I am including the rumor that Cara Delevigne auditioned for a role in 50 Shades of Grey in with the “big announcement”s) being made on Friday? SAVE IT FOR MONDAY, WHEN WE’RE NOT MENTALLY ASLEEP ON A BEACH WITH OUR FACE COVERED BY ONE OF OUR FAVE ‘ZINES! But since we’re here: Which actors and actresses will make up the new cast of Reality Bites? I’ve chosen, as you can see, Aziz Ansari, St. Vincent, and Jesse Eisenberg. (I would take the role of Janeane Garofalo.) (Steve Zahn would reprise his role.) I feel like that’s doable? I’m trying to think of one problem with the casting decisions I’ve made and I can’t. What do you think? My choices, or something else that’s wrong?
