This Week In Comedy Open Thread
Wow, what a good week in comedy! It’s sad that our wonderful week of having episodes of TV shows that we liked a lot (I’m assuming we have the same opinion) (it’s the easiest way 2 live) had to come at the cost of Parks and Recreation. Goodbye for now, sweet love! We’ll see you in a few months! DON’T CHEAT ON US, AND EMOTIONALLY CHEATING COUNTS! The season finale saw the town turning against Leslie, who has taken away their rights to, among other things, extra-large sodas and discrimination. Hahah. Where do you think they get their ideas? I don’t know, everything the town was mad about seemed very unfamiliar. I thought it was a very good episode, though the way they set up the Ron reveal at the end, by having him state that he likes to stay the same every year, didn’t make sense because he was definitely not the same? He has a girlfriend who has children now. BUT WHATEVER WHO CARES IT WAS GOOD. The April and Andy scene where she tells him that she is not pregnant was my favorite, specifically the point at which he forgot that she just told him that she wasn’t pregnant and he got excited again. A+. Jenny Slate was very good too. All of it was good, what do you want from me? I enjoyed the penultimate Office episode, though it was fairly obviously half-an-hour’s worth of material stretched to an hour. Lots of going over the same ideas, lots of me thinking “oh, this must be the final scene” but then there being so many more final scenes. The scene in which Dwight became the manager was great, though. What do you think is going to happen to Jim and Pam?! (That she’s going to, after a few days of him giving her his all, think that he has given enough and that he shouldn’t throw away his dream, and that she will support him?) (Even though he didn’t stop her from moving back to Scranton from New York City before finishing her art degree?) (REMEMBER THAT?!) (Let’s talk about the rest of the stuff after the jump.) I enjoyed Community this week, as well. They are really burning through tropes quickly, but I guess you can’t blame them as they are writing a show that could very well get canceled any second. It was sweet, though! And I laughed out loud a few times, even when whats his name said “Pop…Pop.” And it showed the second perfect young-ing of a female character by making her hair curly and pulling the top part of it back of the week — the first being, of course, Jess in New Girl’s virginity episode. WHICH WAS GREAT! Everyone’s virginity stories were perfect, except Schmidt’s which was a little much, but everyone else’s were perfect. Right now I am enjoying the pace of Jess and Nick’s relationship. Only time will tell if it actually came to soon, or does something to dampen the group dynamics, but as of right now I think the show is doing a good job of making it seem like a natural progression, and keeping the reactions of the rest of the group similarly natural and, above all, funny. TELEVISION’S PERFECT SHOW! Bob’s Burgers is also television’s perfect show, and this week it featured Max Greenfield’s — Schmidt’s — voice as Boo Boo, the lead singer in Boyz 4 Now. What did you think of the shows this week? That they were all good? TELL MEEEEEE!
