Slonk Donkerson – “Painted From Memory” (Stereogum Premiere)
With a name so bad that it’s actually really good, Slonk Donkerson have made their mark on the Brooklyn show circuit over the past few years. Later this year, they’ll put out their third full-length — their first since 2011 — and they are kicking things off with the sludgy “Painted From Memory.” Slonk specialize in the kind of warm rock you’d want to live in, and here they explore the inner workings of their own minds and how our own memories can be the most deceitful. “But something’s not right, it looks like it’s painted from memory,” vocalist Dylan Vandenhoeck worries. “A photo would show all the darkness under my eyes.” Listen below.
