Miguel To Star In Nabil And John Legend’s “Musical Romantic Drama”
When he’s not penning some of the greatest love songs in the world, John Legend runs a film company called Get Lifted Film Co., and he’s planning to partner with Furst Films and IM Global to produce a “musical romantic drama” starring Miguel, whose Kaleidoscope Dream deserved even more accolades than it received back in 2012. Late last year Miguel released a surprise EP, but perhaps he’s been working harder on memorizing the script for this project than new music.
According to Variety, production begins in Philadelphia in September. Nabil Elderkin — aka the visionary behind some of the best music videos in recent memory — will debut as director for his first feature film, and the script was written by Taylor Cohen. Legend will “curate” the music and Miguel is in negotiations to portray a “a former one-hit wonder who regains his love for music when he is hired to coach an aspiring singer for her audition on a singing competition show.”
Miguel, John Legend, Nabil, romance, and a fake American Idol? I would eagerly watch that movie. Let’s hope Miguel confirms that he will lets his voice adorn this role.
