Andreya Triana – “That’s Alright With Me”
British singer-songwriter Andreya Triana has been quiet since her 2010 debut, Lost Where I Belong. With only a few sporadic one-off tracks, features, and remixes floating in the infinite space of the internet, it was unclear if we would get a second full-length blessing. Then Triana announced her proper sophomore album, Giants, with the release of “Gold” a couple months ago, along with a few of her other loose tracks making the cut for the album. The latest addition to the project comes in the form of the traditional R&B/soul-leaning “That’s Alright With Me.” Triana’s smoky tone is in full effect over grand piano chords, syncopated drums, and a bass line that you could imagine gospel choirs snapping and swaying in unison with. It is far from the jazz-infused pop and slow-simmering ballads from her debut, but if this track is any indication, Giants is going to be gorgeous. Listen.
Giants is out 5/4 on Counter Records. Preorder is available on Ninja Tune.
