Michael Shannon, Jason Narducy, & Friends Will Cover The Queen Is Dead In Chicago
Michael Shannon is an actor (Revolutionary Road, Boardwalk Empire, Man Of Steel) and musician who is planning to helm a group of Chicago musicians to perform the Smiths The Queen Is Dead in full for a one-night concert. The ticketing site dubs him a “Chicago native,” and although he was born in Kentucky and used to hang around my favorite Red Hook restaurant Fort Defiance all the time, he spent some of his childhood in the Windy City.
The lineup consists of Shannon, Jason Narducy (Bob Mould, Split Single, Superchunk), Dag Juhlin (Poi Dog Pondering, The Slugs), Gerald Dowd (Robbie Fulks, Justin Roberts) and Curt Morrison (Tributosaurus). The concert will take place on 6/6 at the Evanston Space, and tickets are available here. Expect to see a Morrissey blog post condemning their tribute in 3-5 days. Kidding… kind of.
