Sun Kil Moon & Jesu Are Making An Album Together
Sun Kil Moon’s Mark Kozelek may come off as a curmudgeonly bastard, but it’s not like he doesn’t have friends. He totally has friends! For instance: Ben Gibbard! Also: A guy who used to be in Napalm Death! Justin K. Broadrick, who co-founded Napalm Death as a teenager, went on to make emotive deep-crunch industrial metal with his amazing band Godflesh, and he also makes wounded, seasick shoegaze-metal with his Jesu project. He and Kozelek have a long-running association. Jesu released the 2009 album Opiate Sun on Kozelek’s Caldo Verde label, and Kozelek covered Jesu’s song “Like Rats” in 2013. More recently, Sun Kil Moon enthused about a Godflesh live show on his recent song “The Possum.” And now, the two are making an album together.
As Pitchfork points out, Broadrick confirmed the long-rumored project on Twitter recently:
A lot of questions about a new Jesu record, I've been working on it for some time, it's a collaboration LP between Sun Kil Moon and Jesu.

That’s all we know about the new album right now. Kozelek and Broadrick both make sad music, but they make very different forms of sad music. It should be interesting! Meanwhile, Sun Kil Moon’s new album Universal Themes is out 6/2 on Caldo Verde.
